The Tubes
The Tubes are a rock band hailing from San Francisco, known for their unique blend of progressive rock theater, multimedia elements, and incisive social commentary on American television culture. The original lineup featured Fee Waybill (Vocals), Rick Anderson (Bass), Prairie Prince (Drums), Roger Steen (Guitar and Vocals), Bill Spooner (Guitar and Vocals), Vince Welnick (Keyboards), and Michael Cotten (Synthesizer). Mingo Lewis (Drums and Percussion) and Re Styles (Vocals) later expanded the group to nine members during their tenure with A&M Records. Their live performances were characterized by surreal vaudeville-style shows, transforming songs into elaborate production numbers.
The Tubes achieved their first hit with "White Punks on Dope," taken from their self-titled debut album, which was released on A&M Records. Their follow-up album, “Young And Rich,” included their second hit single, the provocative duet “Don't Touch Me There.” The band released three additional albums on A&M before being dropped in 1982, at which point they returned to their original lineup. Shortly thereafter, they signed with Capitol Records and released their most successful album, the concept project “The Completion Backward Principle.”
This album featured several hits, including “Don't Want To Wait Anymore,” “Sushi Girl,” and the classic rock staple “Talk To You Later.” Their subsequent release on Capitol, "Outside Inside," included the top 10 US single “She's A Beauty.”
In 1985, The Tubes released “Love Bomb,” which did not achieve commercial success. The band faced significant financial challenges due to costly tours, resulting in a half-million dollars in debt. Consequently, Capitol dropped The Tubes, and lead singer Fee Waybill departed, with David Killingsworth stepping in as his replacement.
The following years were marked by numerous personnel changes within the band, as Spooner, Cotten, and Welnick all left by mid-1989. Fee Waybill ultimately returned to the group in the 1990s. Despite continuing to release new music, the legacy of The Tubes is primarily rooted in their fame and notoriety from the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The Tubes - Remote Control PROMO COPY Hot Stamp from 1979 A&M SP4751 The record has been cleaned using ultrasonic technology and is in a strong VG+/VG+ condition bordering on EX. The cover is very nice and crisp, only a VG+ because of age!
- Record was initially cleaned manually, then ultrasonically cleaned with iSonic Ultrasonic Cleaning prior to grading
- Grading description below, done with The Vinyl Archivist photo examples in mind
- Records are packaged with a poly outer sleeve, the LP is placed in a fresh white inner sleeve directly after cleaning, (we include the accompanying sleeve, we send you both), separate from the cover to protect the seams during shipment, and of course, shipped within thick cardboard insert pads in a thick cardboard record mailer.

SEALED:
Vinyl: Assumed mint, unverified until opened.
Sleeve: Visible through shrink wrap, graded as above.
NM (Near Mint):
Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.
EX (Excellent):
Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.
Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.
VG++ (Very Good Plus Plus):
Vinyl: Visible wear, hairlines, and scuffs, but retains luster and plays with minimal noise.
Sleeve: Noticeable wear, corner dings, and possible fading, but no seam splits.
VG+ (Very Good Plus):
Vinyl: Obvious wear and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.
Sleeve: Worn with creases, chipping, and possible seam wear.
Here's the SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy.
VG (Very Good):
Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, plays with persistent noise but no skips.
Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ringwear.
VG- (Very Good Minus):
Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.
Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.
G+ (Good Plus):
Vinyl: Many marks, somehow plays without skipping despite significant noise.
Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, possible large seam splits.
