Teddy Randazzo

American songwriter, singer, arranger, and producer of Italian descent, Randazzo was born on May 13, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York. He passed away on November 21, 2003, in Orlando, Florida, USA. He was married to lyricist Victoria Pike, with whom he had a daughter, Elisa Randazzo; the couple divorced in 1977.

Randazzo is best recognized for his contributions to 1960s music, having composed notable hit songs such as "Goin' Out Of My Head," "It's Gonna Take A Miracle," and "Hurt So Bad." In the early days of rock and roll, he performed with a group known as The Three Chuckles and made numerous appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show. Their debut single, "Runaround," achieved top 20 success on the charts.

He co-starred in rock revues produced by the influential disc jockey Alan Freed, sharing the stage with prominent artists like Chuck Berry and LaVern Baker. In addition to his work in music, Randazzo had leading roles in several rock films during the late 1950s and early 1960s, including "Hey, Let's Twist," "The Girl Can't Help It," "Rock, Rock, Rock," and "Mr. Rock And Roll."

Alongside his songwriting partner Bobby Weinstein, Randazzo penned a series of significant hits for various artists. Their collaboration earned them induction into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame in 2007, marking fifty years since they first began composing together. Between 1959 and 1996, Randazzo achieved 56 charted songs in the United States and 5 in the United Kingdom. Among these were "Goin' Out of My Head / Can't Take My Eyes Off You" by The Lettermen, which reached #7 overall and #2 on the adult contemporary chart in 1967 (co-written with Bobby Weinstein, Bob Gaudio, and Bob Crewe), "Pretty Blue Eyes" by Craig Douglas (#4 UK, 1960, co-written with Weinstein), and "Yesterday Has Gone" by Cupid's Inspiration (#4 UK, 1968, co-written with Victoria Pike).

SRO Records Record Grading Guide:

SEALED/Mint:

Vinyl: Assumed mint, unverified until opened.

Sleeve: Visible through shrink wrap, graded as above.

NM (Near Mint):

Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.

EX (Excellent):

Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.

Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.

VG+ (Very Good Plus):

Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.

Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.

Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.

VG (Very Good):

Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.

Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.

G+ (Good Plus):

Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.

Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.

G (Good):

Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.

Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.

F (Fair):

Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip

Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album
