Santana

Santana, an American Latin-rock band, was established in the late 1960s under the leadership of guitarist Carlos Santana. The group gained significant public recognition following their performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969. This exposure propelled their self-titled debut album to success, followed by two more notable releases: "Abraxas" in 1970 and "Santana III" in 1971, all under Columbia Records, their first label.

The 1972 album "Caravanserai" heralded a new era for Santana, shifting towards a more jazz-influenced style and marking a departure from their rock roots in favor of a more experimental sound. This period included the albums "Welcome" (1973), "Borboletta" (1974), and "Lotus," a triple live album that further showcased their evolving musical direction.

Throughout the ensuing decades, the band experienced numerous lineup changes, and their music occasionally leaned towards a more commercial and pop-oriented approach, though the core Latin influence remained intact.

In 1991, Santana left Columbia and signed with Polydor, releasing the 1992 album "Milagro" and subsequent projects. In 1998, Clive Davis signed the group to Arista Records, leading to their most commercially and critically successful phase. They won a total of eight Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards, all awarded in 2000 for the album "Supernatural," which also produced their first No. 1 hit, "Smooth."

In 1994, Santana performed at a commemorative concert marking 25 years since their landmark appearance at the original Woodstock Festival. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, with members Carlos Santana, Jose "Chepito" Areas, David Brown, Mike Carabello, Gregg Rolie, and Michael Shrieve being honored for their contributions. In 2016, they released a studio album reuniting the early '70s lineup, marking the first collaboration since the multi-platinum classic "Santana III" in 1971. Santana also performed at Bethel, New York, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock.

Their 2010 album, "Guitar Heaven," a collection of classic rock covers, marked their final release under Arista. The following year, "Shape Shifter" was released on their Sony-distributed label, Starfaith. With the release of "Corazón" in 2014, Santana surpassed the Rolling Stones, becoming one of only two acts in Billboard history to achieve at least one Top Ten album for six consecutive decades starting from the 1960s. Since 2018, Santana has been signed with Concord, releasing the EP "In Search of the Mona Lisa," produced by Narada Michael Walden, as well as the full-length album "Africa Speaks," produced by Rick Rubin, in 2019.

NM (Near Mint):

Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.

EX (Excellent):

Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.

Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.

VG+ (Very Good Plus):

Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.

Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.

Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.

VG (Very Good):

Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.

Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.

G+ (Good Plus):

Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.

Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.

G (Good):

Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.

Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.

F (Fair):

Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip

Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album
