Roy Brown, Wynonie Harris

Roy Brown (September 10, 1920 or 1925 - €“ May 25, 1981) was an American blues singer who had a significant influence on the early development of rock and roll and the direction of R&B. His original song and hit recording "Good Rockin' Tonight" has been covered by many artists including Wynonie Harris, Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Joe Ely, Ricky Nelson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Pat Boone, James Brown, the Doors, and the rock group Montrose. Brown was one of the first popular R&B singers to perform songs with a gospel-steeped delivery, which was then considered taboo by many churches. In addition, his melismatic, pleading vocal style influenced notable artists such as B.B. King, Bobby Bland, Elvis Presley, Jackie Wilson, James Brown and Little Richard.

Wynonie Harris (August 24, 1915[2] - €“ June 14, 1969) was an American blues shouter best remembered as a singer of upbeat songs, featuring humorous, often ribald lyrics. He had fifteen Top 10 hits between 1946 and 1952. Harris is attributed by many music scholars to be one of the founding fathers of rock and roll. His "Good Rocking Tonight" is mentioned at least as a precursor to rock and roll. His dirty blues repertoire included "Lolly Pop Mama" (1948), "I Like My Baby's Pudding" (1950), "Sittin on It All the Time" (1950), "Keep On Churnin' (Till the Butter Comes)" (1952), and "Wasn't That Good" (1953).

Sleeve: Visible through shrink wrap, graded as above.

NM (Near Mint):

Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.

EX (Excellent):

Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.

Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.

VG++ (Very Good Plus Plus):

Vinyl: Visible wear, hairlines, and scuffs, but retains luster and plays with minimal noise.

Sleeve: Noticeable wear, corner dings, and possible fading, but no seam splits.

VG+ (Very Good Plus):

Vinyl: Obvious wear and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.

Sleeve: Worn with creases, chipping, and possible seam wear.

Here's the SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy.

VG (Very Good):

Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, plays with persistent noise but no skips. 

Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ringwear.

VG- (Very Good Minus):

Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.

Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.

G+ (Good Plus):

Vinyl: Many marks, somehow plays without skipping despite significant noise.

Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, possible large seam splits.
