Roxy Music
Roxy Music was an English rock band established in 1970 by Bryan Ferry, who served as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter, alongside bassist Graham Simpson. The band's core lineup included long-time members Phil Manzanera (guitar), Andy Mackay (saxophone and oboe), and Paul Thompson (drums and percussion). Former members included Brian Eno (synthesizer and "treatments"), David O'List (synthesizer and violin), and Rick Wills (bass). After taking a hiatus from group activities in 1976 and again in 1983, Roxy Music reunited for a concert tour in 2001, continuing to tour intermittently until their break-up in 2011. Ferry often collaborated with Roxy Music members as session musicians on his solo projects.
In recognition of their contributions to music, Roxy Music was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 (Performers), and Bryan Ferry received a CBE from Her Majesty the Queen of England on 30 November 2011.
Since their formation in 1971, Roxy Music has released 28 albums and 38 compilations. Eighteen of these albums have entered the ‘UK Top 40’ music charts, with 11 reaching the ‘Top 10’ and four, including ‘Stranded’ (December 1973), ‘Flesh and Blood’ (May 1980), ‘Avalon’ (June 1982), and ‘Bitter-Sweet’ (April 1986), achieving the No.1 position. Collectively, these four albums spent a total of 13 weeks at No.1. All 18 charting albums have spent 76 weeks in the Top 10 and 260 weeks in the Top 40.
Roxy Music has also enjoyed success with their 49 single and EP releases, with 18 of these making it onto the charts, including a single that reached No.1. In February 1981, the band topped the singles chart with the John Lennon-penned song ‘Jealous Guy,’ which held the No.1 position for two weeks and remained in the Top 40 for nine weeks, including six weeks in the Top 10.
The 18 Roxy Music hit singles and EPs have collectively spent 128 weeks in the UK Top 40, with 44 of these within the Top 10. The single with the longest chart presence is ‘Dance Away,’ which entered the UK charts in April 1979 and spent a total of 14 weeks charting.
Roxy Music's debut album, the self-titled ‘Roxy Music’ (Island ILPS9200), first appeared in the UK Charts on 29 July 1972, where it remained for 16 weeks, peaking at No.10. The album later re-entered the charts in February 2018 under the HDCD release (Virgin ROXYCD1), reaching No.47 for one week. The band’s first charting single was ‘Virginia Plain’ (Island WIP6144), which debuted on 19 August 1972, staying in the charts for 12 weeks and achieving a peak position of No.4 in its fifth week. - Record was initially cleaned manually, then ultrasonically cleaned with iSonic Ultrasonic Cleaning prior to grading
- Records are packaged with a poly outer sleeve, the LP is placed in a fresh white inner sleeve directly after cleaning, (we include the accompanying sleeve, we send you both), separate from the cover to protect the seams during shipment, and of course, shipped within thick cardboard insert pads in a thick cardboard record mailer.

SEALED/Mint:
Vinyl: Assumed mint, unverified until opened.
Sleeve: Visible through shrink wrap, graded as above.
NM (Near Mint):
Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.
EX (Excellent):
Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.
Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.
VG+ (Very Good Plus):
Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.
Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.
Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.
VG (Very Good):
Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.
Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.
G+ (Good Plus):
Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.
Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.
G (Good):
Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.
Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.
F (Fair):
Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip
Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album
