Erik Darling
Erik Darling (September 25, 1933 – August 3, 2008) was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and emerged as a significant figure in American folk music during the late 1950s and early 1960s. His journey into music was heavily influenced by The Weavers, a prominent folk group of the 1950s, which inspired him to form The Tunetellers. This group eventually transformed into The Tarriers, featuring actor and singer Alan Arkin and musician Bob Carey. In 1956, The Tarriers found success with their rendition of "Cindy, Oh Cindy," and the following year, their version of the "Banana Boat Song" reached number four on the Billboard charts.
In April 1958, Darling succeeded Pete Seeger in The Weavers, while still performing with The Tarriers until November 1959. His solo career included the release of three albums, with his second album, "True Religion," released in 1961 by Vanguard, gaining notable influence among younger folk musicians of the time. In June 1962, Darling departed from The Weavers to pursue a solo career in the burgeoning coffeehouse circuit.
That summer, he collaborated with longtime friend Bill Svanoe and jazz singer Lynn Taylor to form The Rooftop Singers, originally conceived as a studio-only project for Vanguard. The group unexpectedly achieved a number one pop hit with "Walk Right In," a contemporary take on a 1920s folk blues song by Gus Cannon. This record became Vanguard's most successful release and set The Rooftop Singers apart from their contemporaries by incorporating influences from jazz and blues while maintaining a lighter political tone.
Following the disbandment of The Rooftop Singers in 1967, Darling continued to forge his path by recording solo albums with Elektra Records and Vanguard Records, and contributing as a session musician across various folk recordings. He later formed a songwriting partnership with Patricia Street, the last female lead of The Rooftop Singers, and they performed and recorded together throughout the 1970s as Darling And Street. Erik Darling's impact on the evolution of traditional American folk music remains significant and respected.

- Record was initially cleaned manually, then ultrasonically cleaned with iSonic Ultrasonic Cleaning prior to grading
- Records are packaged with a poly outer sleeve, the LP is placed in a fresh white inner sleeve directly after cleaning, (we include the accompanying sleeve, we send you both), separate from the cover to protect the seams during shipment, and of course, shipped within thick cardboard insert pads in a thick cardboard record mailer.

SEALED/Mint:
Vinyl: Assumed mint, unverified until opened.
Sleeve: Visible through shrink wrap, graded as above.
NM (Near Mint):
Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.
EX (Excellent):
Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.
Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.
VG+ (Very Good Plus):
Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.
Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.
Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.
VG (Very Good):
Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.
Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.
G+ (Good Plus):
Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.
Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.
G (Good):
Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.
Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.
F (Fair):
Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip
Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album
