Daniel Vasconcelos, born on October 13, 1989, is a Brazilian heavy metal singer and songwriter, widely recognized on YouTube as Dan Vasc. He is a member of the heavy metal band Fearless, which has released one studio album, Chronicles of Ancient Wisdom (2019), along with an earlier EP titled Ancient Wisdom. Both projects were produced independently. On his YouTube channel, Dan Vasc has gained popularity for his covers of various songs, including metal renditions of tracks by bands such as Sabaton and Beast In Black, as well as songs featured in popular media like The Witcher (including "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher," "The Song of the White Wolf," and "Priscilla's Song") and Mulan (2020's "I'll Make a Man Out of You").
Dan's journey in music began in his childhood, but it wasn't until 2007 that he committed to serious vocal training. Influenced by bands like Petra, Avantasia, and Dragonforce, he sought to develop his voice to match the skill and power of renowned singers such as Fabio Lione, Michael Kiske, Andre Matos, and Eric Adams. This aspiration led him to pursue various music courses and schools, where he studied contemporary and classical singing, piano, music theory, and composition. Eventually, he began teaching singing to local students.
With Fearless, Dan released the EP Ancient Wisdom, which garnered international attention and led the Italian label Heart Of Steel Records to sign the band for worldwide distribution in 2013. This exposure resulted in numerous positive reviews and caught the attention of Juan Aneiros, producer and president of Charlemagne Productions, who invited Dan to perform on The Omens Of Death, the second metal album of the legendary actor Christopher Lee. Released later in 2013, the concept album featured Dan as the character Oliver.
Emboldened by these accomplishments, Dan returned to the studio with Fearless to record their first full-length album, Chronicles Of Ancient Wisdom. Although the production was completed, Dan faced challenges in securing a distribution deal due to unfavorable offers from record companies. As time passed, he supported himself through singing lessons and session work.
In October 2017, disheartened by failed negotiations and grieving the loss of his father to cancer, Dan took a decisive step to cultivate an audience independently. He began posting weekly vocal performance videos on his YouTube channel, which had only 4,000 subscribers at the time.
By 2019, Dan's channel had grown to 62,000 subscribers and amassed over 6 million views. He made the decision to release Chronicles Of Ancient Wisdom independently, which was well-received by his expanding fan base and officially launched on October 14, 2019. Dan continues to enhance his online presence while working on Fearless' second album.
In addition to his work with Fearless, Dan joined the Finnish hard rock band OD in 2014 and traveled to Finland in 2015 to perform with them in both live and studio settings. However, due to scheduling conflicts, he opted to leave OD to focus on his primary project.
Dan is also pursuing a Music Business course under Kiko Loureiro (of Megadeth and Angra) and is a graduate of the Music Careers Mentoring Program, guided by Tom Hess (of Rhapsody Of Fire and Holyhell).
His vocal influences include Fabio Lione, Michael Kiske, Tobias Sammet, Andre Matos, Eric Adams, John Schlitt, ZP Theart, Rob Rock, Andrea Bocelli, Luciano Pavarotti, Tony Kakko, Bruce Dickinson, Jon Bon Jovi, Steve Perry, Mathias Nygard, Steve Lee, Steven Tyler, and Jorn Lande. In terms of music composition, Dan draws inspiration from Stratovarius, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Avantasia, Dragonforce, Rhapsody Of Fire, Manowar, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, Iron Maiden, Turisas, Sabaton, Petra, Journey, Gotthard, Angra, Shaman, John Williams, and Hans Zimmer.
