Ty's journey into electronic music began in the early 1990s at a young age. He started his first club residency at the "Evolution Night Club" in Pueblo, Colorado, before relocating to Denver, where he discovered the nightlife as his second home. It was during this time that he met Koa, the brother of DJ Keoki, leading to a notable residency at Tracks 2000 Nightclub which significantly advanced his DJ career. Throughout his time in Colorado's nightlife, Ty has held long-term residencies at various venues including Vinyl Night Club, The Church, Club Synergy, and Beta Nightclub, in addition to after-hours spots like 2AM and Enigma After-hours, each contributing to his rich musical narrative.

Ty Tek's career was launched with the Casa Del Soul label, founded by DJ Sense', which became a collective of friends, producers, and a record shop that played a pivotal role in Colorado's dance music landscape. The collective includes notable figures such as Darrell Foxx, Little Mike, Wyatt Earp, and DJ Catt. Ty has garnered critical acclaim internationally, with notable releases like “Ty Tek & Little Mike - Casafied Modern Music 2," featured on Lee Burridge's Global Underground Nu-breed mix compilation, alongside recognition in compilations by Lexicon Avenue, Doc Martin (Fabric 10), and Clive Henry of Peace Division’s Ibiza DC10 Circo Loco Mix Compilation. He was recognized in Muzik magazine as one of the top tech-house producers, and Casa Del Soul was highlighted as a recommended label in 2002, with various write-ups in prominent magazines such as MixMag, MusicTech, URB, and BPM Magazine.

In 2002, Ty, alongside his label partner Little Mike (from Beatport/Berlin), established Phrunky Recordings. With both partners bringing decades of experience in managing record shops and performing as DJs, they aimed to innovate within the music industry. Phrunky Recordings achieved immediate success with tracks like "The Party Ride," which was embraced by label boss Erick Morillo for the Subliminal Winter Sessions V.2 compilation. The track also received remixes from notable artists such as Mazi and David Duriez. Other successful collaborations with vocalist Cat Conger have led to significant achievements, aided by partnerships with Dirty Blue Records and Piliavin & Zimbardo.

Ty Tek's keen intuition on the dance floor, paired with his ongoing learning from sharing stages with renowned artists such as Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Adam Beyer, Frankie Bones, Derrick May, Fat Boy Slim, Pete Tong, Sasha, John Digweed, Richie Hawtin, Hardfloor, and Deep Dish, keeps him grounded and continuously evolving.
