ARTIST, SOUND ENGINEER, AND MUSIC PRODUCER
Building Reputation
Beginning in 2000, I embarked on my journey from the ground up. While I was assembling equipment for my early studio, I gained recognition among the online community by participating in emcee battles on the well-known platform "Hip-Hop.ru." From approximately 2002 to 2006, I was known as "Ghostrida." During this period, I launched my own rap-battle platform called "RapWar," which aimed to promote online emcee battles, enhance the skills of active users, and foster a broader rap community in Russia. As my studio evolved, so did my hardware and professionalism, allowing me to independently produce tracks of varying complexities. My musical repertoire grew to encompass numerous recordings for various artists across different genres, as well as the production and co-production of complete albums.
Collaborations
The collective I worked with did not have a formal name initially and was often referred to as the "Rydarecordz Crew." In 2007, we adopted the name "Illuminati," which was later shortened to "Ill U" for "Ill Union," inspired by our London collaborators, I1 and Yuras. By 2008, we transitioned to a new name, "MCPD" (Moscow City Playaz Department), which included members such as Ryda, Ins, JahMal, D'Money, I1, Legion, Frante, Atom, Yuras, and Kravz. However, as we were spread across different countries and lacked a central leader, we found it more feasible to operate as solo artists while maintaining networks with other MCPD members.
Releases
During this time, Atom and I produced our first debut video, "RapArena," under the "Urban Juice" project, which ultimately did not take off. Our debut mixtape, "Ryda & Kravz present 'Mutnie Parni Mixtape' (Vol.1)," was released on September 1, 2007, marking a significant milestone. This was followed by the "Lyfestylez" mixtape the subsequent year, which represented an advancement over the previous release. My growing interest in dancehall and reggae music led to the creation of extensive material for the "RYDD'M" mixtape, which has yet to be released publicly. In addition, I engaged in numerous side projects, with my complete discography available for exploration.
Expansion
At the beginning of 2009, I, along with Atom, Vahtang, and DjErik, established a school in central Moscow designed for aspiring musicians, known as "Newschool Records." This initiative focused on developing skills in emceeing, music production, DJing, and beatboxing. During this time, I collaborated closely with local and international hip-hop and reggae artists, such as Le Truk, Steppa Style, and Lady N. I also made significant investments in upgrading my studio, gaining a deeper understanding of quality signal chains. Although our efforts attracted considerable media attention, personal circumstances necessitated a change, leading to my departure in 2010 with all my equipment.
Current Times
A decade has passed since I began, and I have produced countless records both as a sound engineer and as an artist. Many emerging musicians have benefited from my influence and support. My personal studio, "Rydarecordz," is currently operational, and I take care to maintain and upgrade it as needed.
