Estelle Revaz, a classical cellist born in 1989, has made significant contributions to the music world through her performances across Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. She has been featured at renowned festivals including the Verbier Festival, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, the Sion Festival, the Festival International de Colmar, and the Festival Pablo Casals. Throughout her career, Estelle has collaborated with esteemed musicians such as Gautier Capuçon, Pierre Génisson, Gaspard Dehaene, François Dumont, François Killian, Cédric Pescia, Alexandra Conunova, Raphaëlle Moreau, Tai Murray, Lena Neudauer, Sergey Ostrovsky, and the Quatuor Sine Nomine, among others. Her performances have graced prestigious venues such as the Victoria Hall, the Fondation Gianadda, the Musée du Louvre, the NCPA in Beijing, the Oriental Art Center in Shanghai, the CCK in Buenos Aires, and the Sodre in Montevideo.
Estelle's orchestral repertoire encompasses works ranging from C.P.E. Bach concertos to compositions by Gulda and Ligeti. From the 2017-2018 season, she served as the artist in residence with the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, under the direction of Arie van Beek, for a three-year period. Her diverse projects include an album focused on concertos by F. Martin and a world premiere piece by X. Dayer.
Her debut album, CANTIQUE (NEOS, 2015), features her as a soloist in the concertos of E. Bloch (Schelomo) and A. Pflüger (Pitture, world premiere). This release received critical acclaim, with Le Temps noting that "CANTIQUE is a serious, incisive and demanding record where the orchestra and the soloist play with finesse and intelligence in a beautiful musical symbiosis." Her subsequent album, Bach & Friends (Solo Musica/Sony 2017), showcasing her skill in solo cello, was also well-received, with Pizzicato commenting on her high technical level and exceptional clarity in sound and phrasing. Following this, her duo album FUGATO (Solo Musica/Sony 2017) led Le Courrier to describe her as "one of the rising stars of a new generation of great artists," while La Liberté praised her "majestic programme in which the cello sings magnificently, at times either powerful or languid."
Estelle has appeared on various national radio and television stations across France, Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland, including notable news programs. Recently, she co-produced a five-part radio series titled "Estelle et le violoncelle" for Swiss radio Espace 2/Radio Télévision Suisse.
Beginning her musical journey in Switzerland, Estelle studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris under Jérôme Pernoo and continued her education at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany with Maria Kliegel.
Early in her career, Estelle Revaz received multiple accolades, including the First Prize from the Fondazione Antonio Salieri di Legnago, which facilitated her debut tour as a soloist in Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands during 2004-05. Her talent has been recognized by the City of Geneva, the canton of Valais, the Fonds Français Instrumental, and various foundations including Leenaards, Little Dreams, Dénéréaz, Kremer, Thiébaud-Frey, and Patiño. In 2014, she attended the Verbier Festival Academy, where she was awarded the Rotary Prize.
Since 2015, Estelle has been a member of the "Forum des 100," a collective of influential figures shaping the future of Switzerland. She has also held the position of cello and chamber music teacher at the Kalaidos University for Music in Zurich since 2017. In addition to her teaching role, she frequently conducts master classes across Europe, Asia, and South America. Her recent research on "The development of artistic identity in higher instrumental teaching" was published in March 2019 by Harmattan in the Collection Sciences de l'éducation musicale.
Currently, Estelle Revaz performs on a cello crafted by G. Grancino in 1679, paired with a bow by J. Eury from 1825, both generously provided by Swiss patrons.
