Pulp is a British indie rock and Britpop band that originated in Sheffield in 1978. The band was established by Jarvis Cocker, who remains the sole constant member, having formed the group while still in school. Over the years, Pulp experienced various stylistic transformations and numerous personnel changes before achieving notable success and a stable lineup in the early 1990s. The band disbanded in 2002, but reunited in 2011 for a series of concerts. Following a hiatus in 2013, it was announced in 2022 that Pulp would reunite for shows in 2023. This was confirmed by Jarvis Cocker during a Q&A for his memoir, "Good Pop, Bad Pop," and had been initially hinted at through a cryptic Instagram video featuring the lyrics, "What exactly do you do for an encore?" from the song "This Is Hardcore."
