Ageless Madness is a five-member band that originated in the summer of 2017, initially under the name Ageless Sundays, in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada. The group plays hard rock with influences from metal. The band's name reflects the unique family connection at its inception, as drummer Pierre is the grandfather of bassist Jacob, who was only 13 years old at the time.
After just a few months of songwriting, the band felt compelled to share their music with a wider audience. On March 25, 2018, they recorded their debut single "Beyond Darkness" with producer Dovic Leerock. The track was laid down in a single day, capturing the drums, bass, guitars, and vocals. Following a few informal performances for friends, including celebrations for Dany, the vocalist, and Phil, the rhythm guitarist's 40th birthdays, they organized their first official concert on September 1, 2018, in a gymnasium in Drummondville, alongside the band The Metal Vault, which features guitarist François. The event drew nearly 100 attendees, a notable turnout for a newly formed group, marking a successful debut.
Encouraged by this experience, Ageless Madness proceeded to record a new track, "Running in the Shadows," which is more commercially accessible and hard rock-oriented, using the same approach and producer as their first single. The band's first official music video was filmed on February 16, 2019, also with Dovic Leerock, and gained considerable popularity upon its release three days later. After these milestones, the band decided to produce their first CD single. On August 17, 2019, they launched their CD single "Beyond Shadows" in front of a packed audience at Pub La Sainte-Paix in Drummondville, further solidifying their presence in the local music scene.
The band consists of:
- Dany "PoGWalkeR" Marchand, vocalist. Born in Nicolet, Dany dreamed of being a guitarist, but made his vocal debut in a band in 1993. His previous projects include Vulnerabilitia, Fearless, The Gamins, Artery, Download Live Misery, Hope IV, and Thrash Forces United, alongside contributions to some tracks by the group Creeping Mob.
- François Sylvain, lead guitarist. Hailing from Black Lake and coming from a musical family, François began playing piano at a young age and picked up the guitar at 12, inspired by his father. His past bands include Society Salvation, Sound Of Passion, Download Live Misery, a blues project, and various contracts with artists and emerging acts, as well as regular contributions to Creeping Mob.
- Jacob Dauphinais, bassist. Jacob, from Drummondville, is at the beginning of his music career. He joined the band in 2016 at just 13 years old and performed his first concert at 14. Since then, he has expanded his skills by learning guitar, drums, keyboards, and both studio and live sound engineering.
- Pierre "Papy Drum" Berthelet, drummer/percussionist. A percussion enthusiast since youth, Pierre played congas in his early twenties but did not pursue it further until he resumed playing drums at 51 for personal enjoyment. He met François Sylvain, leading to his involvement in what became Ageless Madness.
- Phil Morand, rhythm guitarist. Born in Montreal and also from a musical family, Phil began playing bass in 1993 and continued until 2011, after which he shifted his focus to guitar before joining Ageless Madness. His previous projects include a Metallica tribute band, New Machine (which toured, performing at venues such as Les Foufounes Électriques and Maquisart in Trois-Rivières), Darknights, Download Live Misery, and Thrash Forces United.
