Emanuela Gubinelli, known professionally as Taleesa, was born on November 19, 1960, in Matelica, Macerata. She was raised in a strict educational environment, attending a religious college where she honed her musical talents, learning to sing and play both the piano and violin. Her musical journey began at the young age of nine when she joined a local band. As an adolescent, she made the bold decision to leave home to tour Europe with her rock band.
Following this tour, Emanuela signed a contract with WEA, but after two years, she realized it did not align with her artistic vision and opted to terminate the agreement. She then moved to Milan, Italy, to reshape her career, focusing on work as a composer and arranger in the studio.
Emanuela gained recognition as a songwriter when two of her compositions, "Say Yeah" and "Keep On Jammin," performed by Stefano Secchi, became hits. This success enabled her to revive her singing career with notable tracks such as "One Love the Lifetime," "Living 2 Love," and "Baby Don't Stop," which achieved some success in France and other European nations. Additionally, she released a single under the name Emmanuella titled "Satisfied," collaborating with Bruno Sanchioni.
Less widely known is her contribution to various successful projects primarily in Japan, including artists such as Linda Ross, Morena, Jilly, Ann Sinclair, Vanessa, Giselle, Paula Marsh, Serena, and Maggie Sue, among others.
Her breakthrough came when she was featured as a vocalist with the duo Cozzi and Rossi (CO.RO.) on their cover of "Because The Night," originally by Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen. She also lent her voice to "There's Something Going On/I Break Down And Cry" and appeared on the subsequent Co.Ro album released in 1993. Following the success of her singles with Co.Ro in America, Emanuela chose to pursue a solo career once more.
One of her initial solo singles as Taleesa was "I Found Luv," co-written by G. Amir Saraf and Uli Brenner and produced by Giacomo Maiolini, featuring raps by Mikey Romeo. Upon returning to Italy, she released several other songs, including "Burning Up," co-written with Trivellato and Sachetto, "Falling In Love," produced by Visnadi under Flying Records and later re-released by ZYX, "Let Me Be," co-written with W. Cremonini and A. Gilardi, produced by Giacomo Maiolini and released through Time Records, and a country dance cover of the classic rock song "Jambalaya." Her next release was titled "I Wanna Give." Taleesa toured extensively worldwide and even hosted television shows in Brazil, where she performed live at nightclubs.
In 1996, she began a collaboration with G. Spagna, contributing her vocals to Paul Rogers' "Wanna Be My Lover" and Morena's "Music Take My Breathe Away."
In 1998, she co-wrote Simone Jay's single "Luv Thang." The following year, she released two singles, one under the name Axia titled "Love In December," and another as Moonlight called "Love Control," produced by Turatti/Melloni. She also recorded a full album in her studio titled "Whatever Happened Lately?" (also known as "Que Pasa Ultimamente?"), featuring 12 songs in Spanish and English, blending ballads and rock. Emanuela toured for over a year across various South American countries, describing the experience as the best of her life.
In 2001, she appeared on two singles by De La Cruz: "My Love Is A DJ" and "Listen To My Heart." The following year, she continued her collaboration with De La Cruz on their single "There's No Right."
In 2003, Taleesa released "Over You," a single reflecting a Kylie Minogue-style sound. The track, published by Vale Music Spain, was co-written by Michael Corkran (her boyfriend), Emanuela Gubinelli, and V. Gaffurini, and produced in her own studios, Luv-en-colors. Later that year, she recorded a single with Aron Michael for DJ Stefy titled "The Promise You Made" and began work on a new single.
In October 2003, she recorded another single for De La Cruz, "In My Mind," released under Elite Records, a new label established by DJ Richard and Johnny Bass after their departure from Vale Music.
In 2005, Taleesa recorded "Where U Belong" for De La Cruz, which entered the American charts at #35.
In 2009, she was featured by the DJ duo Muthagroove on a cover of the classic "My Body And Soul." During her performance at the Italo party in November 2009, Taleesa announced that a new single was forthcoming.
