Robin is a singer-songwriter based in New York City, known for her eclectic blend of folk, pop, rock, blues, country, and jazz. She refers to her unique style as "Acousticness," drawing comparisons to a female James Taylor with her strong finger-picking technique and rootsy songs infused with sophisticated pop elements. Robin's powerful, soulful voice and memorable original compositions leave a lasting impression on her audiences. Her songs have been featured on Fast Folk and Atlantic Records. In 1989, she achieved recognition as a finalist at the esteemed Kerrville Folk Festival Songwriting competition in Texas with her very first application. Additionally, Robin was signed to Bob Dylan's publishing company for two years as a songwriter.
Throughout her career, Robin has performed in over 44 states and numerous countries, including the Dominican Republic, The Bahamas, China, Japan, Mexico, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, and Denmark. She is recognized as a performing artist for Club Med.
For two decades, Robin extensively entertained college audiences across the United States in addition to playing at various folk venues. Her debut album, "SLOW BURN," was originally released independently in 1989 and later picked up by Swiss label BRAMBUS Records for a European release in 1992, where it garnered critical acclaim. Robin embarked on her first European tour in 1994 and continued to tour Europe, particularly Denmark, every summer throughout the latter part of the decade. In 1997, Band Together Records re-released "SLOW BURN" on CD in the United States. Her second album, "Acousticness," was launched in 2000. In 2002, she released her third CD, "Images of Women," which marked the beginning of a series exploring traditional folk and blues songs about women. Volume 2 of this series was released in 2010 and made it onto the Grammy's first ballot for Traditional Folk Album of the Year. At the end of 2010, Robin released "Songs of the Season," a CD featuring music from an annual show she performed with Long Island musician Cecilia Kirtland.
Robin has claimed victory in various music competitions, including the Riverbank/Walden Radio Folk Festival, NJ Folk Festival, and South Florida Folk Festival, among others. She has showcased her talents at notable events such as the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival, NJ Folk Festival, Napa Folk Festival, and many Folk Alliance Conferences. One of her most cherished experiences was performing the national anthem at Madison Square Garden in New York City for her beloved New York Knicks.
An accomplished musician, Robin plays both guitar and banjo. Her exceptional musicianship, compelling songs, powerful vocals, and relaxed performing style resonate with audiences everywhere. She majored in Music at SUNY-Stony Brook, focusing on Classical Guitar. Describing her music as "Acousticness," Robin combines various musical styles—folk, pop, rock, jazz, and blues—within an acoustic framework. During her performances, listeners may encounter a jazz standard, a blues tune, or an instrumental banjo dance piece interspersed with her original works. Her music embodies the sophistication of James Taylor, the lyrical sensitivity of Joni Mitchell, and the strong vocals of Linda Ronstadt, with blues influences reminiscent of Bonnie Raitt.
Robin also offers a concert-lecture titled "Images of Women," which explores women's lives through traditional Anglo and Afro-American folk songs, as well as family and children's programs. She is eligible for Meet The Composer grants and BOCES. When not on the road, Robin serves as a performer-clinician for Martin Guitars and teaches private lessons in guitar, banjo, ukulele, and voice in the New York City area.
