DJ Company was a German group known for its contributions to the Eurodance, Hi-NRG, and dance-pop genres. The ensemble consists of production team members Paul Strand, Stefan Benz, and Louis Lasky.
The main vocalist for DJ Company is January Ordu, while Carlos Cool-Rage provides the rap segments on tracks such as "Rhythm Of Love," "Hold Me Now Forever," and "Holiday In The Land Of Love." Soul SK contributes the rap on "Hey Everybody," and Mark Jeffries performs the ragga chant on "Fly Away." Michael Romeo, a former member of Le Click, delivers the ragga poetry on "Number One." Other contributors to the album "Rhythm of Love" include Brian Thomas, Michael Fielder, and background vocalist Giovanna Deiana.
DJ Company achieved four chart hits in the United States with the singles "Rhythm of Love," "Forever Young," "Hey Everybody," and "I Can Be Your Lover." Additionally, "Number One '97" was released as a single. Their debut album and only U.S. release, "Rhythm of Love," had modest sales, featuring the notable track "Wishing on the Same Star," written by Dianne Warren. The title track, "Rhythm of Love," spent 19 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 53.
The group made its entry into the music scene in 1994 with their debut hit "Hey Everybody," which reached number one on the Canadian Dance Chart for three weeks. Released as a CD single and included on the compilation "Dance Pool Vol. 3," a remixes CD followed in the same year. Despite being based in Germany, DJ Company's success was primarily concentrated in Canada during that time.
Their second release, "Rhythm Of Love," came at the end of 1994 and significantly bolstered their popularity, achieving a top five position (possibly number one) on the Canadian dance chart and maintaining its presence until around July/August of 1995. Released as a single and featured on the compilation "Euro Dance Pool," the song reached number 27 on the Billboard Charts and the top 10 in Europe.
In May 1995, DJ Company released their third single, "Cybersex-Lovegame," but it did not match the success of its predecessors due to the continued popularity of "Rhythm Of Love." Following this, the fourth and fifth singles, "Holiday In The Land Of Love" and "Fly Away," were released around the same time. While "Holiday In The Land Of Love" received airplay on Hi-NRG and Euro radio programs, it did not gain significant traction. "Fly Away," released as part of "Euro Dance Pool 2," began receiving airplay in early November and quickly climbed the Canadian Dance Chart, reaching approximately number two and maintaining popularity until April.
In mid-November 1995, the album "The Album" was released, featuring ten songs, an intro, and a special remix of "Rhythm Of Love." Jam El Mar contributed as a writer and producer on several tracks, with most recordings taking place at Northend 22 in Frankfurt.
In 1997, DJ Company achieved significant success in the United States after signing with Mariah Carey’s new record label, Crave. A new version of "Rhythm Of Love," featuring enhanced vocals and no rap, was released, reaching number 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 8 on the Dance Maxi Single Sales chart. This re-recorded version also enjoyed renewed success in Canada.
The new album, also titled "Rhythm Of Love," was released on September 30, 1997, featuring reimagined versions of "Hey Everybody," "Hold Me Now Forever," a remake of Alphaville's "Forever Young," along with several new tracks. The second single, "Forever Young," was released around the same time as the album.
In Brazil, "Holiday In The Land Of Love" achieved remarkable success, earning a place on the soundtrack of "Malhação," a soap opera that has been broadcast for over a decade.
