Chlara Biography

Chlara Isobel Magtultol, known professionally as Chlara, is a British-born Filipina singer and songwriter often referred to as the acoustic songbird of the Philippines. She spent her early childhood in England before relocating to the Philippines at the age of nine. Chlara's passion for music was influenced by her father, Cesar, a music enthusiast who passed away when she was just two years old, leaving her with a deep appreciation for musical expression. By the age of three, she was already singing, inspired by the diverse sounds that filled her home, including artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Air Supply, The Carpenters, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion.

Upon returning to the Philippines, Chlara's mother, Gina, enrolled her in several singing schools. As she participated in school singing programs and plays, she also picked up the guitar at age eleven, learning from her brother and through self-study by watching instructional videos on YouTube. Before entering college, Chlara began writing her own songs, driven by her lifelong desire to sing and share her music with the world. She later signed a long-term management and recording agreement with Evolution.

Chlara gained recognition through her contribution to the album Voices of Love by evosound, where she performed alongside notable female vocalists such as Susan Wong, Olivia Ong, Julienne Taylor, Emi Fujita, Stacey Kent, Katie Melua, and Chantal Chamberland, covering Lionel Richie’s "Stuck on You." From 2012 to 2013, she regularly performed in the Philippines. On May 30, 2013, she made her overseas debut at the Poly Theatre in Beijing, China, as a special guest for Connie Talbot.

In July 2013, Chlara recorded her debut album, featuring her original compositions in Manila with Swiss-based producer Adrien Zerbini. The resulting album, titled Unstoppable, was released in 2014 and quickly garnered media attention. Notably, Imago's lead guitarist Zach Lucero included her song "You Complete Me" among the best tracks of 2014 in Radio Republic's blog.

Following the album's release on November 3, 2015, the digital version became available on all major download and streaming platforms, with high-resolution downloads offered on evo88.com. Chlara has been actively preparing for her next project, shooting music videos for her ChlaraVEVO channel.

After the launch of her album, she performed at the charity concert Handumanan: Haiyan Tribute on November 8, 2014, in Quezon City, drawing a large audience. From November 22 to 26, 2014, Chlara joined Connie Talbot's Gravity Tour in Hong Kong and Taiwan, collaborating with world-class musicians. Upon her return, she celebrated the release of Unstoppable at a launch event in December 2015, which received coverage from MYX and other major media outlets.

Chlara is currently involved in a new shooting project for ChlaraVEVO, showcasing her versatility through various roles, whether as a jungle fairy, a girl-next-door, or in candid studio footage, always delivering her performances with grace and authenticity.
