Nuno Cacho has been a key figure in the music industry since 2020, serving as A&R for Kaos Records, Funktástica Records, and Organika Records, all part of the Kaos Music Group.
Music has always been at the heart of his life. From his early days with vinyl to his passion for teaching the art of DJing on the dancefloor, Nuno has become a well-respected figure in the Portuguese DJ scene, earning the nickname "The Master" from his students. His career began in 1984, leading him to perform in some of the world's most iconic DJ venues, including the legendary Haçienda in Manchester during the vibrant Acid House era, the acclaimed Stereo Club in Montreal, the eclectic Café d’Anvers in Antwerp, and the glamorous Supperclub in Amsterdam, where he shared the stage with Anastacia.
Over a span of more than 15 years, Nuno held residency at some of Portugal's most famous clubs and participated in significant festivals from 1995 to 2002. His performances garnered attention from leading critics, earning features in publications such as MUZIK MAGAZINE and DJ MAG in England, DEEJAY in Spain, and even a cover story in DANCE CLUB in Portugal. Throughout his travels, he forged lasting friendships with renowned artists, including Angel Moraes, Louie Vega, Frankie Knuckles, and Sandy Rivera, as well as with various eclectic artists from the Manchester label PAPERECORDINGS, of which he later became the representative in Portugal.
Nuno Cacho does not adhere to a single label or static style; instead, he follows his instincts, embraces new technologies, and infuses his music with heartfelt emotion. His approach to DJing involves adapting to different environments and gradually shaping them to reflect his artistic vision. His inspiration for House music draws from a diverse range of sources, including disco classics, new wave, funk, dark disco, 1980s Hip Hop, acid jazz, acid house, and early '90s garage, alongside his lifelong admiration for the 4AD label. One notable work, The Rocks vol. 1 CD, which achieved gold status and was mixed live by Nuno, exemplifies his ability to blend various aspects of electronic music while maintaining a cohesive and contemporary sound.
As an A&R professional, Nuno Cacho has played a pivotal role in launching the international careers of artists such as Frank Maurel, Carlos Fauvrelle, DJ Ruizinho, 4 Tosters, Stereo Soldiers, and Mindskap. He has facilitated their debut releases with top record labels and represented them at major industry events like Midem and the Winter Music Conference. Additionally, he served as the artistic director for the electronic segments of festivals including Vilar de Mouros, Carviçais, and Valhelhas, and oversaw the programming of the well-known TSB Sessions at Teatro Sá da Bandeira in Porto.
With a commitment to promoting music, Nuno has also utilized his passion for radio to further his goals. He co-founded Radio Nova Era during its pirate days and garnered a significant audience with his electronic music show, Zona de Dança, on Minute 90Fm. More recently, he has been involved in the program "Back To My Roots" on Radio 93.5 and House-Parteners.com.
Nuno's natural talent and enthusiasm for teaching have established him as a national reference for aspiring DJs. He has developed and taught various courses at different schools, often reflecting on his experiences by stating, "I get more than what I am when I train, as it is usually only one to transmit knowledge and get them all. It’s just like a cab; I’m just giving music for the track and receiving all that energy from the public. As such, I live every gig stronger, enriched, and rewarded!"
