Ingrid Carbone, an award-winning pianist from Italy, has garnered recognition at the “Global Music Awards” international competition in the United States, where she has received four medals. In August 2021, she was honored with a silver medal for her latest CD, “Le sentiment de la nature,” which is dedicated to Liszt and released in May 2021. Prior to this, in 2020, she achieved three bronze medals: one in March (making her the only Italian pianist to receive an award) for her CD focused on Schubert, titled “L’Enchantement Retrouvé,” and two in December, where she stood out as the only classical musician to receive two awards for her dedicated CD to Liszt, “Les Harmonies de l’Esprit,” and for her live performance of Consolation No. 2 during a concert in Konstanz, Germany, coinciding with the international photographic exhibition “Women of Mathematics throughout Europe – A Gallery of Portraits.”
Carbone’s latest CD, “Le sentiment de la nature,” was also nominated for the 2022 International Classical Music Awards (ICMA). Her accolades extend to the IBLA Grand Prize worldwide competition, where the New York IBLA Foundation recognized her achievements with a Scarlatti Special Mention in 2016 and a Piano Special Mention in 2017. In 2015, 2016, and 2017, she was acknowledged as one of the “outstanding professionals who deserve the attention of the international public at large,” evaluated against a standard of excellence.
In 2021, she received the "Città di Montalto Uffugo" Career Award, a tribute to her impressive artistic career that has elevated the prestige of Calabria, the region known for the prominent composer Ruggiero Leoncavallo. Additionally, in 2020, the Conservatory of Music of Cosenza selected her as one of its most distinguished alumni during its 50th-anniversary celebration, presenting her with a plaque in recognition of her highly prestigious artistic activity.
Ingrid Carbone has performed for numerous associations, foundations, theaters, and conservatories across various countries, including Austria, China, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Slovenia. Beyond her concert engagements, she is dedicated to promoting musical and cultural knowledge through lecture-concerts and is actively involved in social initiatives.
In 2018, she established the Musical Association “Clara Schumann,” where she serves as President. This association organized the Calabria International Piano event in 2020. Carbone's musical education began in her hometown of Cosenza at the Conservatory of Music, where she studied under Maria Laura Macario and Flavio Meniconi, ultimately earning her piano diploma with full marks at the age of nineteen under Francesco Monopoli, while also studying composition.
She has participated in several master classes at prestigious institutions, including the Internationale Sommerakademie at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes in Israel, learning from renowned pianists such as Lazar Berman, Aquiles delle Vigne, Andrzej Pikul, Cristiano Burato, and the Argentine pianist and composer Eduardo Ogando.
In addition to her musical pursuits, Carbone has an eclectic background in academia, having graduated summa cum laude in Mathematics from the University of Calabria at age 21. She later joined the University of Bari, where she became an Assistant Professor in Mathematics at age 27. She has authored articles published in international journals and has been invited to present talks and conferences in Europe and Canada. Currently, she serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Calabria and has previously held the position of President of the Scientific Library for several years.
Ingrid Carbone is also a Bechstein pianist.
