Cabezones, a rock band formed in Santa Fe in 1991, consists of César Andino (vocals), Esteban Serniotti (guitar and backing vocals), Gustavo Martínez (bass), and Alejandro Collados (drums). Initially, the band leaned towards a Hardcore punk style.
In 1997, they released their debut album, Hijos de una nueva tierra, through the independent label Mentes Abiertas, which they connected with while contributing to a compilation alongside other alternative bands.
In 1998, Cabezones relocated to Buenos Aires. Their next album, Alas, was produced by Zeta Bosio, formerly of Soda Stereo, and was released by Sony Music later that year. This record marked a significant shift in their musical direction, introducing a heavier and darker sound. In 2002, Alas was released in Mexico, where the band embarked on a ten-month tour. Upon returning to Argentina, Cabezones signed a contract with Pop Art to release Eclipse (Sol) in 2003. By the year's end, Leandro Aput joined the band as a rhythm guitarist.
In 2004, Cabezones released an EP titled Intraural, featuring acoustic versions of six songs from Eclipse (Sol). The following year, in April 2005, they launched Jardín de extremidad, which includes twelve new tracks blending the sounds of Alas and Eclipse (Sol). This album was promoted through a tour named "Gira de extremidad."
On February 18, 2006, they recorded their first live CD/DVD, Bienvenidos, in front of a sold-out audience in Buenos Aires.
A tragic turn occurred in March 2006 when a serious car accident hospitalized Gabriel Ruiz Díaz, the bassist of Catupecu Machu. César Andino, a passenger in the vehicle, suffered fractures in both femurs, one being an exposed fracture. After several months of rehabilitation, Andino returned to perform with Cabezones at the Obras Sanitarias stadium, once again in front of a full house. Close to Christmas, Cabezones held their final concert with the original lineup.
In July 2007, Leandro Aput, Esteban Serniotti, and Gustavo Martínez departed from the band. Subsequently, César Andino began to explore a solo career, which ultimately led to the next Cabezones album.
On September 29, 2007, Cabezones performed at the Pepsi Music festival, where Andino (vocals) and Collados (drums) introduced new band members: Leonardo Licitra and Pablo Negro (guitars) and Matías Tarragona (bass).
In May 2008, they released Solo, a project produced by Alejandro Collados as a solo album for César Andino; however, it was issued under the Cabezones name. The lead single, "Mi reina," included a music video featuring members of various Argentine bands.
Later, Andino returned to Santa Fe and reformed Cabezones with local musicians: Eugenio Jauchen (ex-Levitar) on guitar, Marcelo Porta (ex-Levitar) on bass, and Damián Gómez on drums. This lineup recorded the album Nace between April and June 2012 at Estudio El Pote.
In 2016, they launched El naufragio del alma with the same lineup as the previous album, but with Diego Canastrelli on drums. They embarked on the Infinito Tour, traveling throughout Argentina and neighboring countries for three years. In March 2017, bassist Mariano "Nano" Bernardi (ex-Viuda Negra, Búfalo Blanco) joined, and Romulo Pividori returned on drums, replacing Javier "Mono" Farelli, who had taken over Canastrelli's position after the album's recording.
In 2021, nearly two decades after their first album and fourteen years after their iconic show at Obras, they released Cabezones 20 años, which compiles the best tracks from their career, featuring remixes and previously unreleased versions of "Globo" with Marcelo Corvalán (ex-A.N.I.M.A.L. and Carajo) and "Irte," both remastered by Eduardo Bergallo, with Osko and Rha Cariola (Santos Inocentes) handling the overall production at Estudios Monasterio.
The year 2022 began with a performance in Santa Fe and an invitation to the renowned international festival Quilmes Rock 2022 in Buenos Aires on May 1, where they shared the stage with Divididos, Catupecu Machu, Massacre, Richard Coleman, and others. Their show on the second day was a memorable and impactful event, filled with fans, and featured Marcelo Corvalán as a special guest, performing two songs alongside César Andino.
