Byron Brizuela is recognized as a groundbreaking record producer, songwriter, composer, remixer, and music entrepreneur. His extensive body of work spans multiple musical styles, media formats, and genres. Since 1992, his Los Angeles-based company, Brizz Productions, has played a pivotal role in the Latin music landscape. Byron has written, produced, and remixed music that has garnered him platinum and gold records, a Billboard Music Award, and a dedicated fan base. His music has also found a place in major motion pictures, popular television shows, and radio commercials around the globe.
From a young age, Byron was inspired by the tenets of the American Dream, demonstrating patience, persistence, and perseverance. He immigrated to the United States at the age of five and grew up in a non-English speaking household in Los Angeles. This background required him to navigate challenges while excelling in academics, athletics, and music. In high school, he immersed himself in music, taking on roles as a musician, DJ, event promoter, and rapper. These experiences provided him with valuable insights and skills that would shape his career. Byron later pursued studies in marketing and business administration at California State University, Los Angeles, and completed a music business course at UCLA.
By 1992, Byron began collaborating with local L.A. artists, rappers, and musicians, producing music demos while honing his creativity and business acumen. In 1997, he transitioned to working with major music labels as a producer, remixing popular tracks for notable artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Paulina Rubio, Marco Antonio Solis, Juan Gabriel, Laura Pausini, AB Quintanilla, Los Tucanes de Tijuana, Kumbia Kings, and Alejandro Sanz.
In 1999, Byron appeared in a national TV commercial for Jose Cuervo Tequila titled “Si Se Puede.” In this project, he achieved a creative trifecta: writing and producing the music and lyrics, recording the rap, and starring in the commercial. His distinctive musical style led to endorsement deals with prominent music brands, including Korg, Marshall, Vox, Steinberg Cubase, and Native Instruments.
Byron has also directed, produced, and written radio jingle campaigns for major companies, including Univision Radio (KLOVE 107.5 FM, Los Angeles), CBS Radio (Mega 101 FM, Houston), Clear Channel (ViVa 107 FM Atlanta), Entravision Radio (Superestrella 107.1 FM, Los Angeles), and Bustos Media (La Gran D Radio Network).
In addition to his production work, Byron has developed several successful Latin music libraries for leading industry players such as Warner Chappell Music Production, Groove Addicts, Megatrax, TM Studios, and Beats From The Streets. He has composed over 1,000 songs for these libraries, establishing them as premier sources of authentic Latin music. Major Spanish-language television networks, including Univision Communications, Telemundo Networks, Fox Sports, Televisa, and Azteca, frequently utilize Byron’s music.
Throughout his career, Byron has received numerous accolades. In Mexico, he was awarded "Canción Social del Año" by La Academia Nacional de la Música y del Consejo de la Comunicación de Mexico for the song “La Cima,” which he co-wrote with Claudio Yarto of Calo fame. In 2014, a leading German educational media publisher released Byron’s socially relevant song “Vecino,” written for rapper Jae-P, as part of a Spanish learning DVD that includes a lesson plan focused on immigration issues.
In 2002, Byron played a significant role in establishing the Urban Regional genre, a fusion of Mexican and Hip Hop culture. His expertise in this genre has allowed him to produce for major labels such as Univision Records, Universal Latino, Fonovisa, and Capital EMI, achieving multiple RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications for his producing and songwriting efforts. He also received the prestigious Billboard Music Award for producing the Best New Artist of the Year. In 2004, Byron produced the Latin Urban TV show “Strictly Raza” for the LATV Network, which showcased inspirational stories about Latinos in the United States from diverse backgrounds.
In 2007, Byron founded an independent music label, Rize High Records, dedicated to releasing innovative hip Latin music. Since its inception, the label has launched records from Latin rap artists like Flakiss and Skeey, and released the first Norteño concept album by Los Famosos del Norte, where each song is thematically interconnected. Other notable releases include rap instrumentals by Beats From The Streets and holistic Spanish music by Los Misioneros Del Bienestar.
Today, Byron Brizuela continues to collaborate with artists, musicians, and companies that are at the forefront of the Latin music scene.
