BOOST is a French Fusion/Hardcore/Industrial Metal band that originated in Strasbourg and Paris. Formed in 1996, the group disbanded in 2003 but reformed in 2015, releasing the album "Reboot." In 2019, they reemerged again as "BOOST & The Quiet Scream Orchestra," this time focusing on acoustic reorchestrated versions of their songs.
The band was initially formed in 1995 by Olive (RIP) and Crass (CRUSHER). They caught the attention of producer André Gielen (CHANNEL 0, DEVIATE) during a live performance, leading to their first demo. BOOST released their debut album "A toi de voir" in 1996, featuring contributions from notable figures in the French music scene including Mouss (MASS HYSTERIA), Marco (TREPONEM PAL), Kmar (NO ONE IS INNOCENT), Yaumgui (ONE EYED JACK), and Reuno (LOFOFORA) on the track "Le monde s’écroule."
The band's success was immediate, resulting in a rapid series of performances across France, Switzerland, Belgium, and Germany. BOOST benefited significantly from being presented as an opening act by MASS HYSTERIA on multiple occasions. Their powerful live performances and unique musical style captivated a diverse audience. During this period, they also joined forces with SRIRACHA SAUCE (touring/management), sharing the stage with notable 90s acts such as SENSER and GUNSHOT. Their album "IN-DIFFERENCE" solidified their reputation, showcasing their ability to blend genres including Metal, Hardcore, Punk, Ragga, and Electro with remarkable skill and effectiveness.
Despite their dominance in the Metal genre, BOOST never confined themselves to a single style. Following extensive touring, including the SRIRACHA TOUR 3, which featured 32 dates in 36 days alongside TRIPOD and BLACK BOMB A, the band decided to disband in 2005.
The idea of reforming the band emerged in 2015, driven by numerous requests from fans, labels, and concert venues. BOOST returned with a new lineup, releasing "Reboot" in December 2019 through Mystyk Prod. Produced by Damien (DUST IN MIND) at Psyrus Studio, the album presents an intense blend of Metal and Hardcore infused with hip-hop, goth, and electro-rock elements, featuring guest appearances from Luc Arbogast. With a lineup that includes Howie Saw (ex-FACING STANLEY/BABY BRINGS BAD NEWS) and Crass (CRUSHER) on vocals, Phil (ex-DDS) on guitar, Polak (TREPONEM PAL) on machines, Fab (ex-BABY BRINGS BAD NEWS) on drums, and T (ex-CRUSHER) on bass, the band delivered 11 urgent tracks both in album form and live.
BOOST’s journey is characterized by a familial bond and a dedicated approach to "hardcore," often collaborating with prominent guest artists. Notable collaborations include the vocal contributions on their first album "Le monde s’écroule," as well as guest appearances on "In-Difference" and "Waste of time," with Stéphane Buriez adding guitar work, and Luc Arbogast’s feature on "Reboot," which diverges from the metal sphere, alongside Admir from JAIL.
The lineup of BOOST in 1996 included Olive (guitar), Steph (bass), Thomas (drums), and three vocalists: Crass, Boozy, and K-Shoo. They initially played a Metal-Hardcore style heavily influenced by Industrial music, releasing their first album "A Toi De Voir" in 1999, which led to opening slots for their friends Lofofora and Mass Hysteria.
In 2000, BOOST joined the Sriracha Posse, a production and management collective that included bands like Lofofora, Eths, and Eyeless, which further increased their visibility. Building on a strong live reputation, they confirmed their status with their album "In-Difference," recorded by Stéphane Buriez (Loudblast), which gained significant attention in the French Industrial scene in 2001.
