Piero Balleggi, known as Perry Boogie, is a distinguished pianist and singer from Bologna, recognized as one of Italy's foremost practitioners of boogie woogie piano. He first entered the Italian music scene by joining Neon, a prominent new wave group in the 1980s, where he recorded his initial three albums.

In 1985, Balleggi collaborated with English singer Andi Sex Gang of Sex Gang Children, resulting in two records. The first was a duet titled "Dirty Roseanne," infused with a Bowie-esque, seventies vibe, followed by "Arco Valley," which was produced by Mick Ronson, famed guitarist for David Bowie.

In 1987, he established his own rock and roll band, the Jack Daniel's Lovers, releasing the album “Stay Out of Jail,” which he co-produced with Steve Berlin from Los Lobos. The band toured Russia and opened for the Stray Cats at a Rolling Stones concert in Milan. They also made appearances as special guests for two weeks on Renzo Arbore’s “International DOC Club,” a popular Italian television show. In 1992, under a new contract with WEA music, he released the CD “Per non crescere mai.”

From 1991 to 1994, Balleggi played with the Jumpin' Shoes, a top-charting Italian rock band that embraced a fifties style of rock n’ roll and jumpin’ jive. During this time, he participated in the R 'n' R festival in England in 1992, and contributed to an album for Charlie Gracie, an Italian American pop singer who had two chart-topping hits in the United States during the late 1950s.

Throughout his extensive career, Balleggi has collaborated with notable international artists, including Mick Ronson, Steve Berlin, Lee Allen, and Dave Alvin. He gained further recognition in 1987 with the Jack Daniel's Lovers, frequently appearing on Renzo Arbore's shows and achieving a second-place finish on Rai Uno's “Il canzoniere dell'estate.” In the 1990s, he performed alongside iconic rock'n'roll figures such as Janis Martin, Little Tony, Charlie Gracie, and Candye Kane. He has also been a regular participant at the Summer Jamboree in Senigallia, accompanying artists like Tommy Sands and Johnny Farina of Santo & Johnny.

In 2017, Balleggi joined a new project rooted in the rhythm and blues of the 1950s, Martini and the Olives. That same year, he accompanied Gina Haley and Slim Jim Phantom at the Route 66 Festival in Aarburg, along with the Di Maggio Connection. The following year, he played piano for Gizzelle and Robert Gordon with the Di Maggio Connection trio at the Rock This Town festival in Solothurn, Switzerland. Balleggi's distinctive piano style draws inspiration from legends such as Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis, creating a sound that is original, unique, and easily recognizable.
