Deejay and Producer hailing from Viareggio, Italy, Alex M (Alessandro Mugnaini) was born in Pietrasanta on November 18, 1988. His passion for music emerged at an early age, as he was enchanted by its emotional resonance and creative possibilities. With encouragement from friends and his own resolve, he committed to pursuing a professional career in DJing and music production.
Alex M has made a name for himself in both the Italian and international electronic music scenes. He has performed at notable venues such as Kama Kama and Frau in Versilia, and has been a special guest at significant events like Il Mattinè in Bologna, Rooms in Florence, Click Me Off in Genoa, and the Wave Music Boat Party in Rimini.
In addition to his DJing, Alex has passionately engaged in music production, cultivating a unique style that encompasses House, Deep House, Deep Tech, Tech House, and Techno. His work has been released on esteemed labels, including Stereo Productions, Serkal, Monique Musique, Toolroom Records, Witty Tunes, Sanity, Memoria Recordings, BlaBla, and Hang On Music, the latter of which he founded.
One of his early achievements was the “Moving The Sun” EP, which debuted on Monique Musique in 2011 and featured a remix by Cesar Merveille. This track garnered international acclaim from DJs such as Pete Tong (BBC Radio), Wally Lopez, and Andy Baxter, receiving airplay on Ibiza Sonica, La Factoria Radio Show, and Radio Deea, while also charting on Beatport.
In 2012, Alex released his first vinyl, the “Move On & Love EP,” on One To One Records, which included a remix by Jay Bliss. Over the subsequent years, he produced a series of notable tracks and remixes, including the “Baby Your Eyes EP” on Sanity Records, supported by Loco Dice in Ibiza, and the remix of “Microphone Stereo” by Farfan, created in collaboration with John Stoongard and supported by Maceo Plex.
His “Club America” EP, also on Sanity Records, reached #46 on Beatport’s Top 100, maintaining its position for over three weeks and receiving endorsements from artists like Chus & Ceballos and DJ Linus. In 2014, he established his own label, Hang On Music, which quickly gained recognition from industry figures such as Richie Hawtin, Joseph Capriati, and Santé.
Alex's productions have been included in prominent compilations like THE BPM 2014 (Stereo Productions), Miami Box (BlaBla Music), Amsterdam 2014 (Toolroom Records), and ADE 2016 (Elrow Music). His track “To The Dance Floor EP,” released in 2017 on In The Loop (Lupe Fuentes’ label), reached #63 on the Traxsource Tech House chart.
From 2018 to 2024, Alex M continued to release music through international labels including Hippies, Roush, Flashmob Records, Happy Techno, Too Many Rules, Eat And Beat, Downtown Underground, Ocean Trax, TheBasement Discos, and Deeperfect. His tracks consistently appeared in the Top 100 on Beatport and Traxsource, receiving regular support from DJs worldwide.
In 2024, his “City Lights” EP on Happy Techno was featured at major festivals and clubs globally, including a performance at Circoloco Ibiza by Prospa, and was highlighted on the Keinemusik radio show. Additionally, his “Dance” EP on Hang On Music reached #49 in the Beatport House Top 100.
Since December 2024, Alex M has been a resident DJ at Soffuso Club in Versilia. In March 2025, he signed an EP with the iconic Trax Records (Chicago), collaborating with British vocalist Fran Wilson, marking yet another significant milestone in his career.
