Frank Zappa - Zoot Allures - 1976 - VG+ - Ultrasonic Clean  - A little on the scruffy side, several hairlines, not as bad as you are thinking, but I can't really sell this to a Zappa fan without calling it all out.. The record has been cleaned using ultrasonic technology and is in strong VG+/VG+ condition. The cover is crisp, only a VG+ because of age!

Frank Zappa

Frank Vincent Zappa, an American composer, lyricist, songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, bandleader, conductor, producer, and filmmaker, was born on December 21, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland. He passed away on December 4, 1993, in Los Angeles, California.

Of Italian descent, Zappa's grandfather emigrated from Partinico, Sicily. He emerged as one of the most significant composers within the rock genre, weaving together influences from contemporary classical figures such as Igor Stravinsky, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Edgard Varèse. His work also reflected a fondness for late 1950s doo-wop, rock & roll, and guitar-driven rock, which significantly shaped the pop music landscape of the 1970s. In addition to his musical prowess, Zappa was a sharp satirist, known for his boundless scorn and parody, as well as his wicked sense of humor, which often pushed the limits of conventional taste.

Zappa was an exceptionally prolific artist, producing a vast body of work through his own labels, including Bizarre Records, Straight, and Barking Pumpkin Records. His music was distributed through partnerships with Rykodisc and Rhino Entertainment Company, following earlier, less satisfactory experiences with major labels like Warner Bros. Records and the now-defunct MGM. In the 1980s, Zappa regained the rights to his earlier albums and began reissuing them, initially under his own label and later through Rykodisc. Throughout his career, he remained at the cutting edge of technology, investing in equipment and home studio facilities to maintain full control over the production of his music.

In 1988, Zappa published his official autobiography and embarked on a world tour. Unfortunately, this marked the end of his live performances, as he was diagnosed with cancer in late 1991. Nevertheless, he continued to release albums at a rapid pace. After his death, his wife, Gail Zappa, assumed leadership of the Zappa Family Trust (ZFT), which continued to release numerous posthumous projects and remastered recordings until her passing in 2015. The ZFT was subsequently inherited by his children, who remain active in the music industry, with Dweezil Zappa leading the tribute project "Zappa Plays Zappa," along with siblings Moon Unit Zappa and Ahmet Zappa, as well as the more reserved Diva Zappa.

Zappa was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a Performer in 1995.

SRO Records Record Grading Guide:

SEALED/Mint:

Vinyl: Assumed mint, unverified until opened.

Sleeve: Visible through shrink wrap, graded as above.

NM (Near Mint):

Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.

EX (Excellent):

Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.

Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.

VG+ (Very Good Plus):

Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.

Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.

Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.

VG (Very Good):

Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.

Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.

G+ (Good Plus):

Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.

Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.

G (Good):

Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.

Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.

F (Fair):

Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip

Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album
