The Doors

The Doors

The Doors, an American band known for their fusion of psychedelic rock and blues rock, was formed in July 1965 in Los Angeles, California, by Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek, along with other members. Following the death of lead vocalist Jim Morrison on July 3, 1971, in Paris, the remaining band members went on to release two additional albums, though these efforts did not achieve significant commercial success. The group disbanded in April 1973.

In recognition of their influence on music, The Doors were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 as performers.

The band was active during the years 1965 to 1973, with several reunions in 1978, 1993, 1997, 2000, and from 2011 to 2013.

The core members of The Doors included: - Jim Morrison – lead vocals, harmonica, percussion (1965–1971; passed away in 1971) - Ray Manzarek – keyboards, organ, backing and lead vocals (1965–1973, 1978, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2011–2012, 2012–2013; passed away in 2013) - Robby Krieger – guitar, backing and lead vocals (1965–1973, 1978, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2011–2012, 2012–2013) - John Densmore – drums, percussion, backing vocals (1965–1973, 1978, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2011–2012, 2012–2013) - Patricia Sullivan (Patricia Hansen) – bass (1965)

The band also featured various touring and live members, including: - Jack Conrad – bass (1972) - Bobby Ray Henson – rhythm guitar (1972) - Eddie Vedder – vocals (1993) - Don Was – bass (1993) - Angelo Barbera – bass (2000) - Perry Farrell – vocals (2000) - Pat Monahan – vocals (2000) - Ian Astbury – vocals (2000) - Travis Meeks – vocals (2000) - Scott Weiland – vocals (2000) - Scott Stapp – vocals (2000)

In addition to its primary lineup, The Doors collaborated with numerous guest and session musicians throughout their career, such as: - Larry Knechtel – bass (1966–1967) on "The Doors" (1967) - Doug Lubahn – bass (1967, 1968–1969) on "Strange Days" (1967), "Waiting for the Sun" (1968), "The Soft Parade" (1969) - Jerry Scheff – bass (1970–1971, 1978) on "L.A. Woman" (1971), "Other Voices" (1971), "An American Prayer" (1978), among others.

Throughout their history, The Doors left a lasting impact on rock music, characterized by their distinctive sound and the powerful presence of Jim Morrison.

SRO Records Record Grading Guide:

SEALED/Mint:

Vinyl: Assumed mint, unverified until opened.

Sleeve: Visible through shrink wrap, graded as above.

NM (Near Mint):

Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.

EX (Excellent):

Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.

Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.

VG+ (Very Good Plus):

Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.

Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.

Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.

VG (Very Good):

Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.

Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.

G+ (Good Plus):

Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.

Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.

G (Good):

Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.

Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.

F (Fair):

Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip

Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album

International Buyers: We charge $7 for the first record and $2 a record thereafter for Domestic Shipping in the continental United States. This only includes shipping to the International hub here in the United States. Please carefully review the total shipping and VAT charges for your order before committing to a purchase, which will be different from what we are able to view or control on the US eBay site.
