Fritz Reiner
A distinguished conductor of both opera and symphonic music in the twentieth century, Fritz Reiner was born on December 19, 1888, in Budapest, Hungary, into a secular Jewish family in the Pest district. Initially encouraged by his father to study law, Reiner ultimately shifted his focus to music, enrolling at the Franz Liszt Academy, where he studied piano, piano pedagogy, and composition. Notably, during his final two years, he received instruction from the young Béla Bartók.
Reiner began his professional career at opera houses in Budapest and Dresden, where he collaborated closely with Richard Strauss. In 1922, he emigrated to the United States, taking the position of Principal Conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, a role he held until 1931. He became a naturalized citizen in 1928 and subsequently taught at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, where he mentored prominent students including Leonard Bernstein, Lukas Foss, and others.
From 1938 to 1948, Reiner conducted the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, during which time he made several recordings for Columbia Records. He later spent a number of years at The Metropolitan Opera, where he led a historic production of Strauss's Salome in 1949 and conducted the American premiere of Igor Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress in 1951.
While Reiner had focused on American music since his arrival in Cincinnati, his activities in Europe increased after World War II. In 1953, he became the music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, achieving a fully international reputation. The ten years he spent in Chicago are widely regarded as the pinnacle of his career, highlighted by numerous recordings made at Chicago's Orchestra Hall for RCA Victor from 1954 to 1963. Reiner passed away on November 15, 1963.

- Record was initially cleaned manually, then ultrasonically cleaned with iSonic Ultrasonic Cleaning prior to grading
- Records are packaged with a poly outer sleeve, the LP is placed in a fresh white inner sleeve directly after cleaning, (we include the accompanying sleeve, we send you both), separate from the cover to protect the seams during shipment, and of course, shipped within thick cardboard insert pads in a thick cardboard record mailer.

SEALED/Mint:
Vinyl: Assumed mint, unverified until opened.
Sleeve: Visible through shrink wrap, graded as above.
NM (Near Mint):
Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.
EX (Excellent):
Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.
Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.
VG+ (Very Good Plus):
Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.
Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.
Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.
VG (Very Good):
Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.
Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.
G+ (Good Plus):
Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.
Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.
G (Good):
Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.
Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.
F (Fair):
Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip
Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album
