Anton Bruckner

Anton Bruckner

Josef Anton Bruckner was an Austrian organist and composer, born on September 4, 1824, in Ansfelden. He passed away on October 11, 1896, in Vienna. Bruckner began his formal music studies in Vienna in 1855 and graduated in 1861 at the age of 37. It was not until he turned 40 that he dedicated himself to composition with earnestness.

In 1868, he took on a teaching position at the Conservatory of Wien, where he instructed students in organ and counterpoint, while also establishing himself as an organ concert performer. Initially, Bruckner's work garnered appreciation from only a small circle of admirers; however, after his death, his significant symphonic-choral compositions began to receive widespread acclaim in Europe and beyond.

Bruckner is best known for his symphonies, masses, Te Deum, and motets. His symphonies are regarded as emblematic of the final phase of Austro-German Romanticism, characterized by their rich harmonic language, strong polyphonic texture, and considerable length. His compositions played a crucial role in shaping contemporary musical radicalism, particularly due to their dissonances, unprepared modulations, and wandering harmonies.

Bruckner's Symphony No. 1 was revised in 1866, with the score edited by a2039828. Symphony No. 2 underwent revisions in 1877, with score editing attributed to a1493527. His Symphony No. 3 was revised in 1877, also edited by a1493527. The Fourth Symphony was revised in 1878, once again with score credit to a1493527. Finally, Symphony No. 8 was revised in 1890, with editing by a2039828.

Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.

EX (Excellent):

Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.

Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.

VG+ (Very Good Plus):

Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.

Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.

Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.

VG (Very Good):

Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.

Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.

G+ (Good Plus):

Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.

Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.

G (Good):

Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.

Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.

F (Fair):

Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip

Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album
