Laurie Styvers
Laurette Stivers, known professionally as Laurie Styvers, was an American singer-songwriter born in Texas on 3 August 1951. She passed away in Texas on 18 February 1998. In 1966, Styvers and her family relocated to London, where she attended the American School in London. During her time there, she responded to an advertisement to join the folk-psych band Justine. Although she contributed to the group's recording sessions for Dot and Uni, Styvers departed to pursue her studies in Colorado before the release of Justine's self-titled album in May 1970. She rejoined the band in late 1970, but Justine disbanded shortly thereafter.
Following this, producer Hugh Murphy signed Styvers to a recording contract with Hush Productions, a management and production company co-founded by Murphy and Shel Talmy. Styvers recorded her debut solo album, Spilt Milk, in the spring of 1971 with a group of British session musicians, led by arranger Tom Parker. The completed album was released in the United States by Warner Brothers in October of that year. While she made several promotional appearances in the U.S. for the album, Styvers soon returned to college in Denver. The album had a delayed release in the UK through Chrysalis in May 1972, which included the single "Beat The Reaper," gaining some airtime on Radio 1.
Styvers returned to the UK to work with Murphy again, producing her second album, The Colorado Kid, which was released the following year in the UK and other territories, though it did not see a release in the U.S. Despite receiving airplay and positive reviews, Styvers ultimately chose to end her music career and moved back to the United States permanently. She settled in Texas, where she established an animal rescue center with her father. Tragically, she passed away at the age of 46 due to hepatitis.

- Records are packaged with a poly outer sleeve, the LP is placed in a fresh white inner sleeve directly after cleaning, (we include the accompanying sleeve, we send you both), separate from the cover to protect the seams during shipment, and of course, shipped within thick cardboard insert pads in a thick cardboard record mailer.

SEALED/Mint:
Vinyl: Assumed mint, unverified until opened.
Sleeve: Visible through shrink wrap, graded as above.
NM (Near Mint):
Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.
EX (Excellent):
Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.
Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.
VG+ (Very Good Plus):
Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.
Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.
Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.
VG (Very Good):
Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.
Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.
G+ (Good Plus):
Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.
Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.
G (Good):
Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.
Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.
F (Fair):
Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip
Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album
