The Four Aces
Al Alberts, hailing from South Philadelphia, began his musical journey playing piano whenever he found the opportunity and showcasing his powerful tenor voice. Prior to World War II, he had collaborated with prominent big bands led by Jan Savitt and Elliot Lawrence. During this time, he forged a friendship with Dave Mahoney, a talented tenor saxophonist from Chester, a nearby suburb, who also contributed vocal parts. Together, they made a pact to reunite after the war to pursue a career in music.
Upon returning to Chester in 1956, Alberts and Mahoney sought the support of record owner Marty Caruso, who helped them recruit two additional members: Rosario "Sod" Vaccaro, a baritone vocalist and trumpet player, and drummer Louis Silvestri, who also contributed bass vocals. Silvestri was affiliated with a roller-skating club named 'The Aces', and the group adopted this name for themselves. They dedicated time to rehearsing and refining a mix of classic standards, contemporary pop hits, and original songs for performances at local clubs and college dances.
In 1958, Al Alberts departed from The Four Aces, with Freddie Diodatti stepping in as his replacement. Over time, all original members left the group, leading to a new lineup featuring Tony Alesi, Joe Giglio, and Harry Heisler. In 1975, Tony Alesi's declining health necessitated his departure, with Danny Colingo taking his place.
A legal dispute arose between the original and new members regarding the band's name. Ultimately, the court permitted the founding members to perform as "The Original Four Aces Featuring Al Alberts." This arrangement continued until the original act retired in 1987. The second iteration of The Four Aces persists in using the name and performing the classic songs that established the group's popularity. In recognition of their contributions to music, the group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001.

- Record was initially cleaned manually, then ultrasonically cleaned with iSonic Ultrasonic Cleaning prior to grading
- Records are packaged with a poly outer sleeve, the LP is placed in a fresh white inner sleeve directly after cleaning, (we include the accompanying sleeve, we send you both), separate from the cover to protect the seams during shipment, and of course, shipped within thick cardboard insert pads in a thick cardboard record mailer.

SEALED/Mint:
Vinyl: Assumed mint, unverified until opened.
Sleeve: Visible through shrink wrap, graded as above.
NM (Near Mint):
Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.
EX (Excellent):
Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.
Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.
VG+ (Very Good Plus):
Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.
Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.
Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.
VG (Very Good):
Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.
Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.
G+ (Good Plus):
Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.
Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.
G (Good):
Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.
Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.
F (Fair):
Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip
Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album
