Ratt

Ratt is a hair and glam metal band originating from San Diego, California, USA. The band's inception dates back to the early 1980s, although its roots can be traced to the mid-1970s with a group known as Mickey Ratt, led by vocalist Stephen Pearcy. By 1983, after undergoing several lineup changes and relocating to Los Angeles, Ratt solidified its classic lineup, featuring Pearcy, guitarists Warren DiMartini and Robbin "King" Crosby, bassist Juan Croucier, and drummer Bobby "Blotz" Blotzer. This lineup played a significant role in the burgeoning glam metal scene.

Between 1984 and 1990, Ratt released five commercially successful albums. However, as the decade progressed, the band's popularity began to wane due to shifting musical tastes. Crosby, a key member, struggled with heroin addiction, which ultimately led to his departure from the band. After enlisting guitarist Michael Schenker for touring purposes, Ratt released their final single of this era, "Nobody Rides for Free," in 1991, a track from the movie soundtrack of "Point Break." The following year, both Pearcy and DiMartini exited the band, effectively signaling the end of Ratt's initial phase.

In 1997, the surviving members convened to discuss a reunion. Croucier opted not to participate, and Crosby was deemed unfit due to ongoing health issues related to his addiction; he would later publicly reveal his HIV-positive status in 2001 before passing away from a heroin overdose the following year. Robbie Crane was brought in to replace Croucier, and Pearcy occasionally played second guitar. This new lineup produced a self-titled album in 1999, which did not achieve the commercial success of previous releases. Pearcy departed the band in 2000, leading to a legal dispute over the rights to the name "Ratt" between him and Blotzer and DiMartini, with the latter two eventually emerging victorious. The issue of the name rights has continued to be a source of contention among the surviving members.

Throughout the early 2000s, Blotzer and DiMartini toured under the Ratt name with various vocalists and guitarists. In 2006, they reunited with Pearcy. The band, featuring Robbie Crane on bass and former Quiet Riot guitarist Carlos Cavazo, released the well-received album "Infestation" in 2009. However, internal tensions led to the announcement of an indefinite hiatus in 2010. In 2012, Crane announced his departure from the band, and shortly thereafter, Croucier rejoined. In the spring of 2014, Pearcy left Ratt again, citing ongoing personal and business disagreements.

By the summer of 2015, both Blotzer and Croucier had embarked on separate touring projects to perform Ratt songs. Blotzer stated that DiMartini would not tour under the Ratt name unless Pearcy and Croucier were involved. Later that year, Blotzer declared his touring band as the official version of Ratt, leading to legal disputes over the use of the band's name. In November 2016, a court ruled that the rights to the Ratt name still belonged to the surviving original members, which prompted Pearcy, DiMartini, and Croucier to reunite and expel Blotzer from the partnership. In 2018, Pearcy and Croucier announced a tour with an entirely new lineup, with DiMartini expressing disinterest in participating.

Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.

VG (Very Good):

Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.

Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.

G+ (Good Plus):

Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.

Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.

G (Good):

Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.

Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.

F (Fair):

Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip

Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album
