Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was an American singer, dancer, philanthropist, entertainer, songwriter, producer, and recording artist whose influence profoundly shaped the music landscape and modern culture. Born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, he is often referred to as the 'King of Pop.' Jackson's extraordinary career began as the youngest member of The Jackson 5, and he launched his solo career in 1971. He was the brother of notable recording artists such as Jackie, Janet, Jermaine, La Toya, Marlon, Randy, Rebbie, and Tito Jackson, and he served as the uncle to the group 3T.

With over 500 million records sold as a solo artist and an additional 150 million with The Jackson 5, Jackson is recognized as the best-selling solo artist in history. His iconic albums, including Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, and HIStory, established him as one of the most successful and influential musicians ever. Jackson's innovative contributions to music videos, live performances, and his ability to blend genres such as rock, pop, R&B, and soul significantly transformed the entertainment industry, setting new benchmarks for creativity and artistic expression. His work continues to resonate with fans across nearly 200 countries, and he remains a pivotal figure in the evolution of pop music.

Jackson's cultural impact extends beyond entertainment, influencing over 60 academic fields, including economics, sociology, anthropology, psychology, cultural studies, medicine, law, and zoology. His life and career have been the focus of extensive scholarly research, exploring themes from the psychology of fame to post-colonialism and awareness of vitiligo. His messages of unity, love, and equality helped him connect with diverse audiences around the world, solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest entertainers of all time.

In recognition of his profound impact, Jackson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 as a performer. Tragically, he passed away on June 25, 2009, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 50 due to acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication. His personal physician, Conrad Murray, reported finding Jackson unresponsive in his room, and despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead later that day at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Jackson's enduring legacy continues to be celebrated and studied, reflecting his unparalleled influence on music and society.

SRO Records Record Grading Guide:

SEALED/Mint:

Vinyl: Assumed mint, unverified until opened.

Sleeve: Visible through shrink wrap, graded as above.

NM (Near Mint):

Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.

EX (Excellent):

Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.

Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.

VG+ (Very Good Plus):

Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.

Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.

Here's the typical SRO Records line in the sand. Anything below VG+, unless it's rare, unusual or just awesome, we're NOT going to sell online, much less go through the hassle of an ultrasonic cleaning, we're going to put it in one of many $10 Record boxes that we sell at Record Conventions and events. Some will wind up in the $1 Box, just to get it back out into the world for someone to enjoy or make a planter out of.

VG (Very Good):

Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips.

Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.

G+ (Good Plus):

Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.

Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.

G (Good):

Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.

Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.

F (Fair):

Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip

Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album

International Buyers: We charge $7 for the first record and $2 a record thereafter for Domestic Shipping in the continental United States. This only includes shipping to the International hub here in the United States. Please carefully review the total shipping and VAT charges for your order before committing to a purchase, which will be different from what we are able to view or control on the US eBay site.
